Session 1: Pages from the Past: Memory as Poetry
Each session will include light creative warm-ups, hands-on activities, and opportunities for participants to share, reflect, and celebrate their stories. Max. of 12 participants.
Overview: Participants reflect on a specific moment from their life (e.g., first love, chosen family, protest, joy, survival) and turn that into a short poem or prose piece.
Activities:
- Guided memory prompts from Amanda
- Writing warm-ups + collective brainstorming
- Group poetry share-out in a supportive circle
Takeaway: A personal poem to be printed in a community zine or framed as keepsake.
These storytelling workshops are designed to honor LGBTQ+ elder voices, foster community connections, and create space for personal expression through poetry, visual art, music, and memory. Amanda Shea will guide each session with care, creativity, and intention.
