Bearmonster

Raw, resourceful, “hot-buttered dad rock” – Bearmonster marks the thirty-year friendship of Shaun Wolf Wortis (vocals, guitar) and Ken Schopf (drums, vocals). After years apart raising families and building separate careers, the two reconnected and began recording again, releasing stripped-down guitar-and-drums arrangements layered with sound samples and effects, drawing from garage rock, vintage gospel and New Orleans Rhythm & Blues. Their 2024 full-length debut, Little, weaves found sounds and old horror-movie clips into a gritty, collaged take on rock and roll; the record was shadowed by Wortis’s diagnosis and recovery from throat cancer during its making.
