Introvert Happy Hour in Hyde Park

January 30 @ 3:00 pm5:00 pm
Bring your own book to our silent reading club aka Introvert Happy Hour! A low-pressure way to enjoy reading in a social setting.

We will be meeting in the Menino room!

Ethos’ Pride Initiative provides safe spaces for LGBTQ+ older adults to enjoy programs together and meet new people. This is our rendition of a silent book club. This group is designed for introverts and book lovers seeking community without the pressure of assigned reading or forced discussion, offering a way to connect with others over the shared joy of reading.

With traditional book clubs there’s the scramble to finish the selected book, and the pressure to have something smart to say. In this group, you get to read whatever book you desire at your own pace and then there is an opportunity to discuss and socialize. All readers are welcome—whether you prefer an eBook or physical copy!

We will spend the first and last 30 minutes discussing what we are reading and getting to know each other. After the first 30 minutes of socializing we will then read silently for an hour before our last 30 minutes of socializing.

Please make sure to get there on time if you’d like to mingle! If you prefer to just read in community then feel free to show up around 3:30 PM to miss the intro mingling.
