ALL ARE WELCOME!\n\n\nThis year we will be serving up some Holiday Cheer\, in the form of food\, drink and music in the Boiler Room. SUMMARY:Man On Land
DESCRIPTION:Man On Land is a Boston-based jazz trio consisting of pianist Brian Friedland\, bassist Greg Loughman\, and drummer Austin McMahon. Since forming in 2009\, the group has performed nearly a hundred originals and imaginative arrangements\, releasing three critically praised albums. Their sound is defined by deep collaboration\, dynamic group interplay\, and a spirit of spontaneity—reflected even in their name\, which combines the last syllables of each member’s name. \nOver the past 15 years\, Man On Land has cultivated a loyal following through engaging and uplifting performances at more than a dozen Boston venues and concert series\, including The Mad Monkfish\, The Beehive\, Jazz Sundays at the Square Root\, and the Eliot Schoolyard Series. Their 2025 album release concert with Mandorla Music was a sold-out event. \nMan On Land’s latest album\, Echo the Hills (April 2025)\, features acclaimed saxophonist Lihi Haruvi\, whose stunning tone and captivating playing have made her an in-demand artist across the globe. The album highlights the group’s versatility and imagination\, drawing inspiration from a wide spectrum of influences—including Chick Corea\, Ornette Coleman\, Nirvana\, and Cole Porter—while showcasing the quartet’s vibrant connection. All four musicians are faculty at Berklee College of Music\, with Loughman and Haruvi also teaching at Berklee’s Global Jazz Institute.

SUMMARY:Spotlight on the Candidates: The Art and Humanity of Boston Politics
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS NOW \nRiverside Theatre Works and the Hyde Park Creative Connector proudly present Spotlight on the Candidates: The Art and Humanity of Boston Politics on Saturday\, October 11 at 7:00 PM. \nThis festive\, one-of-a-kind evening gives Boston City Council and Mayoral candidates the opportunity to connect with the community through the power of the performing arts. Participants will take the stage to express their values and personalities through spoken word\, music\, dance\, comedy\, skits—even magic. \nFar from a traditional debate or town hall\, Spotlight on the Candidates is a lighthearted\, nonpartisan celebration that highlights the creativity\, character\, and humanity of those seeking public office. It’s an invitation to experience politics from a new perspective—one that emphasizes art\, community\, and shared joy. \nThis marks the fourth installment of the event\, previously held at Riverside Theatre Works in 2003\, 2005\, and 2009. Past performances have included poetry readings\, bongo drumming\, and even tap dancing. It’s not a talent show—it’s a civic tradition that honors both the democratic process and the performing arts as cornerstones of vibrant community life. \nBUY TICKETS NOW

SUMMARY:HADESTOWN: TEEN EDITION
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS HERE\nWelcome to Hadestown\, where a song can change your fate. This acclaimed new musical by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha\, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always. \nHadestown intertwines two mythic tales—that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice\, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone—as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature\, doubt against faith\, and fear against love. Performed by the School at RTW Teens. Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.

SUMMARY:Live in Concert: Zambra
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Roundhead Brewing on Sunday\, June 1 at 7p for an unforgettable evening of music with Zambra\, a genre-defying string ensemble whose name—drawn from the Arabic word for “gathering”—reflects both their global roots and collaborative spirit. \nFeaturing Ángela Varo (violin\, Andalusia)\, Ria Modak (guitar\, NYC)\, Devon Gates (bass\, Atlanta)\, Queralt Giralt (cello\, Catalonia)\, and Bahar Badieitabar (oud\, Tehran)\, Zambra blends original compositions and traditional music through soulful improvisation and dynamic interplay. \nFor this special performance\, they’re joined by clarinetist Jahnvi Madan (Seattle)\, expanding their sonic palette in a one-night celebration of sisterhood\, cultural connection\, and musical exploration. \nThis community concert is hosted in partnership with Roundhead Brewing\, New England’s first Latino-owned brewery and a Best of Boston winner. Known for its craft brews\, artisan pizzas\, and vibrant atmosphere\, Roundhead is more than a brewery—it’s a community space that champions local culture and the arts. This activation of art is part of their ongoing commitment to uplifting diverse voices and supporting organizations like Departure Arts.

SUMMARY:The Trap Dorz and Nocturnal Adoration Society performs @ The MAC
DESCRIPTION:The Trap Dorz play original songs by former rocker Andy Hollinger\, who has since moved on to playing quieter instruments. He sings and juggles the mandolin\, plectrum banjo\, and acoustic guitar while bandmates Rob Emslie (piano\, guitar\, heavenly harmonies) and Jarpo Born (hothouse harmonica) bring the rootsy songs to life\, playing a mix of old and new tunes\, including some from The Trap Dorz’s upcoming release later this summer. Their previous two releases are available at lowbudgetrecords.com and on various streaming platforms. \nFor those who like their pigeonholes neat and tidy\, Jimmy Ryan is an unsettling proposition. He plays mandolin with the old-timey pluck of a bluegrass breakdown\, but also with the ferocity of rock guitarist. He puts the “man” in mandolin. That melding of styles made Ryan an esteemed pioneer of the local “alt-country” brigade in the ’80 & ’90s when he founded and fronted the bluegrass-tinged rock band The Blood Oranges with the same eclectic approach\, making him one of the most dynamic singer-songwriters on the rich Boston Americana scene today. His partner-in-Life\, bassist Donna Sartanowicz possesses a silky mellow voice that has a way of slowing the heartbeat and lowering blood pressure. Nocturnal Adoration Society\, their fascinating musical fusion duo of original songs\, speak to mature life experiences\, grounded in hard won wisdom and a partnership that has stood the test of time.

He has recorded and traveled extensively after building his one-of-a-kind self-made music contraption The Guitar Machine which allows him to play guitar\, bass and drums while picking finger style guitar or banjo with his hands and singing and playing harmonica. Royer has won a Boston music award for Best Roots Act as the banjo player in his band The Resophonics and has played and recorded with many Boston based bluegrass bands. http://guitarmachine.com \nHomefried Valentines are a husband and wife duo playing original music with an eclectic Pop/Rock vibe on a combination of instruments – electric tenor ukulele\, electric guitar\, and cocktail kit drums. Musicians Michael and Carla Eigen have each been nominated for local Boston music awards. The New England Music Awards nominated Michael Eigen for Roots Act of the Year as a singer-songwriter and drummer for the band Los Goutos. Carla Eigen was a nominee for Outstanding Local Female Vocalist by the Boston Music Awards as the front woman for the band Sextiles.
