Known for her‬ mastery of metaphor\, she redefined herself as‬ Navah the Buddaphliii‬‭ —pronounced‬ “butterfly”—a name that reflects her deep belief‬ in transformation and her role as a catalyst for‬ change in the world.‬ Affectionately called‬‭ The Duchess of Double‬ Entendres‬‭ \, Navah is celebrated as a‬ poet-prophet\, a warrior of words\, and an‬ nwavering source of inspiration. Her social‬ media series\,‬‭ Navahism‬‭ \, has garnered a‬ devoted following through its blend of clever‬ affirmations and empowering reflections.‬ Her body of work includes‬‭ Black Cocaine and‬ Colorless Butterflies‬‭ \, a collection that solidified‬ her place in the poetry community and brought‬ her recognition from the City of Boston as well‬ as the Atlanta poetry scene. Over the years\, she‬ has performed at both intimate venues and‬ prestigious theaters\, captivating audiences with‬ her raw honesty\, lyrical brilliance\, and‬ unapologetic storytelling. A mother of five and a devoted partner\, Navah‬ continues to balance her artistic pursuits with‬ her commitment to family. Through her abstract‬ writing workshops in colleges and‬ collaborations with poets worldwide\, she fosters‬ the next generation of literary voices while‬ promoting the power of art and activism.‬ \n‭ \nEddy Toussaint Tontongi is a poet\, critic and essayist who writes in Haitian\, French and English. His latest books include Tyaka Poetica (2021); La Parole indomptée / Memwa Baboukèt (“The Untamed Speech / Memory of The Muzzle\,” 2015)\, published by L’Harmattan in Paris\, France; and In the Beast’s Alley (2013)\, a collection in English of his “poems of conscience.” Tontongi’s book Critique de la francophonie haïtienne (L’Harmattan\, 2007) is considered by as a seminal critique of linguistic power relations in Haiti. Tontongi has just completed his French collection of essays\, Le Regard de l’Autre\, using the critical investigative perspective which he calls reverse anthropology\, the reverse gaze of the Other\, the oppressed\, upon the oppressors. A look from the South to the North. Tontongi’s latest collection of poems is Gaze of Thunder\, scheduled to be released in the Summer of 2025. Tontongi is Editor in Chief of the publishing house Trilingual Press and the trilingual politico-literary journal Tanbou (www.tanbou.com). Eddy will read from his newly released collection of poems “Gaze of Thunder” (Trilingual Press\, October 2025).

We will launch at 9 a.m. with Mayor Michelle Wu\, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley\, and Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll.  Community awards will take place at this time as well. \nDoor prizes of We Move In Color Tickets\, TJ Maxx\, and Life Alive Gift cards will be awarded between 9:30 and 10:30 and again between noon and 2 p.m. Food will be available for purchase\, along with our Macaroni and Cheese and Rice and Beans contest. Free tastings and voting are encouraged! at 11am – Join us for our Fashion Show and dance and vocal performances. More door prizes will be announced at this time. \nThere will be lots to do- come early and stay until 3pm! \n1.  Arrival –  Parking is available either on the street or in the school parking lot. Please be respectful of driveways and emergency access areas. When you arrive\, please go to the check-in desk outside the Auditorium for information and directions to ensure the day is successful.  You will get your assignments and updates there. ALL GUESTS enter through the FRONT DOOR of the building. \n2. Attire— This is a casual event. Afro-centric attire is encouraged for our guests. \n3. The area is one of the most important wildlife habitats in Greater Boston and is used by dozens of species of birds\, mammals\, amphibians\, and fish\, including numerous threatened or endangered species. Unfortunately\, the meadow has fallen victim to litter and dumping\, and that’s why we need your help!

SUMMARY:First Annual Hyde Park Health and Wellness Summit: Equitable Healthcare at a Crossroads
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for The First Annual Hyde Park Health and Wellness Summit: Equitable Healthcare at a Crossroads: Addressing Boston’s Medical Deserts – Starting in Hyde Park \nWhen: Saturday\, March 22\, 2025\nTime: 9am to 1:30pm\nWhere: The Pryde\, Hyde Park\, MA \nHyde Park residents have come together to address health disparities\, including limited access to primary care services\, preventative care\, and health education that challenge our\nneighborhood. We seek a responsive health care center that can begin to provide services\ntailored to the diverse needs of our community\, assisting those lacking health care options and\ndealing with maternal health\, chronic health\, and mental health issues. \n● Hyde Park had the highest infant mortality rate of any Boston neighborhood from 2012 –\n2021 (7.8 deaths per 1\,000 live births). The neighboring community of Roslindale had\nthe lowest infant mortality rate in the city (2.4 deaths per 1\,000 live births). \n● The burden of mental health illness in our community is significant – the percentage of\nHyde Park residents reporting anxiety\, 23.1%\, is over 9% greater than the city at large\nand Hyde Park’s suicide rate per 100\,000 people of 7%\, is 9.6% higher than the city at\nlarge. \n● 13.2% of Hyde Park residents have a disability\, over 5\,000 people \n● The rate of hospital encounters for asthma for Hyde Park residents is over 8% greater\nthan for the city at large. \n● Currently\, 9\,000 people in Hyde Park live below the federal poverty level\n.\n● Hyde Park has a higher percentage of both renters (49%) and homeowners (30%) who\nare more Housing Cost Burdened than those in the city at large. \n● Hyde Park has a significantly diverse makeup of the neighborhood\, which is 45.7 %\nBlack\, 24.7% Latino\, 21.9% White\, 2.2% Asian\, and 4.2% people of two or more races.\nThis substantiates the need for culturally relevant\, responsive\, and accessible health\ncare. \n● The recent closure of a nearby hospital has expanded the medical desert in the\ncommunity and created further urgency for a community health care center \nIt is essential that we bring services closer to home.
